I was very impressed with Downvalley Tavern. I saw the last review and totally disagree. There must have a been a problem that night. The food is so good and everyone is very friendly.
Worst meal and service I have ever experienced. Half of our entrees arrived a solid 20 minutes after the first three. No apologies, no discount, and an AWOL wait staff - on a quiet night. Soggy pasta, steak a dog would pass up, and overcooked tuna.
The Chicken Cacciatore was horrible-all dark meat with the skin. The staff was friendly, but we had to wait for everything even though there were only 3 tables in her section.
I've had nothing but great experiences at the Downvalley Tavern. The food is excellent, the waitstaff is friendly, the atmosphere is really comfortable, the price is fair, and did I mention that the food is awesome. Try one of the pasta dishes. They vary from heavier dishes like carbonara to some lighter veggie-focused dishes. All are great, it just depends on what you are in the mood for.
Their pasta dishes are awesome. I think I've had most of them on the menu over the past 6 months or so. The ingredients are fresh and delicious, and the combinations range from classics like carbonara to some that seem to be the chef's original creation. This is my new favorite place in the valley.
The food was incredible! The rigatoni bolognese was to die for. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was very friendly. I can't wait to go back and try more!
This was our third trip to DVT. The food is always great, and the chef's fine dining experience shows through. Try the braise pork. Very reasonable prices in a warm, comfortable setting.
Great atmosphere. Food was awsome. Especially loved the burger & fries cooked just perfect. Also draft beer is a plus.
Ever since this place opened, I've been going here on a regular basis because the food is just SO GOOD! Prices are very reasonable, but the food seems to be much better than your average restaurant- great flavor combinations. Love the warm spinach salad which has garlic and shrimp, and the lamb pasta. I HIGHLY recommend it.My favorite Basalt restaurant.
I love this place. I ate there by chance on a visit to Carbondale last fall, and it was the first place I came back to on my visit in January. In the fall I had the carbonara, this winter I had the lamb meatballs. Both times the food was excellent, and I think everyone at my table agreed. The atmosphere is great, as was the service. It's not cheap, but the prices are reasonable. I don't think there's a better value in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Sunday's are great at Downvalley Tavern. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. Having young kids myself, this makes a delicious meal more affordable. Grilled cheese sandwich for grown-up's is so good! My favorite! Great atmosphere and I've never had anything but delicious food!
Best food in the valley. Beautiful inside. Great service. Food was very tasty. Nice bar area.
Disappointing. The menu sounds so amazing but the food was some of the worst. I had the chicken pate and it crumbled. Horrible texture and even worse taste. The steak was served in a bowl of soup and nothing tasted right. I always give places a second try but the food was so bad that I just can't.
Downvalley Tavern is a great Restaurant. The concierge at my hotel recommended it. I will definitely go back!!
I came to Downvalley Tavern b/c so many people told me such positive things about the restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful and my favorite dish was the crab and shrimp spaghetti. I will go back on my next visit in the summer.
The most terrible meal I have had in the valley. Good luck! I'll give you two more months! The Blue Creek Grill was expensive but the food was great!
